Saloon Door - The Nitro Pros
From the brewmaster himself...
Nitro is the future. We know it because we've tasted it. Typically a rare sight, Nitros are slowly making their way into bars and taprooms all over. Our tasting room has four nitro taps because we know it is the next big thing in craft beer.
Traditionally, beer is carbonated because part of the process creates CO2 that becomes infused in the drink. This dissolved gas gives the beer a crisp effervescence and at higher levels a nice refreshing bite. What makes nitro different is right there in the name, nitrogen. A new way of serving beer, this method involves reducing the carbonation and instead infusing the beer with nitrogen. The first affect is visual as the pour generates a cascade of bubbles crawling up the beer to meet the thick head at the top of the glass, but the real change is in flavor. Nitro beer has a smooth and creamy texture, ideal for accentuating rich malt body, bringing out additional character without adding unwanted bitterness.
